Doremi Labs Introduces the V1-MP2
MPEG2 Video Disk Recorder
Burbank, CA - January 15, 2001 - Doremi Labs introduces the V1-MP2;
the intelligent choice for video recording and playback. The stylish front
panel is the first hint of its performance capabilities. More than just
a drop in replacement for aging video tape recorders, the V1-MP2 offers
superior MPEG2 image quality and simultaneous record and playback for
time delay and instant replay of live video feeds such as during sports
broadcasts. The V1-MP2 can also be used as a highly reliable playback
device for video presentations
The V1-MP2 uses 4:2:2 MPEG2 compression with bit rates up to 50Mbits/sec
for frame accurate playback at any speed. In addition its disk based recording
offers time saving instant locate and play capability. The V1-MP2 is the
most feature rich video disk recorder available. It comes standard with
a full function front panel, two audio channels, and complete analog video
inputs and outputs. Digital component video, embedded audio and up to
8 channels of AES/EBU digital audio are available as options.
Compared to Motion JPEG compression, MPEG2 requires significantly less
disk space and provides a higher quality video image. And unlike many
MPEG2 devices, the V1-MP2 uses only GOP1 MPEG2 encoding. This allows the
unit to be used for complex editing jobs. The V1-MP2 also features an
advanced constant block size compression system (CBSC) for extremely accurate
edits and synchronization of audio and video. CBSC also allows for accurate
independent recording of each video, audio or time code track.
The V1-MP2 can be controlled via its two RS-422 ports, 100BaseT Ethernet
or its front panel which includes a jog/shuttle wheel and an optional
video monitoring display. The V1-MP2 features space for two removable
hard drives that can hold several hours of video storage. Additional storage
capacity can be added via an external video storage unit.
