ScanVision Technology Relies On
Doremi Labs V1 Disk Recorders
May 31, 2001 -Doremi Labs' popular V1 family of Digital Video Disk Recorders
(VDR) is part of the breakthrough ScanVision instant replay system that
debuted during game 3 of the Stanley Cup series on the ABC Television
Network. Termed for this event the "ABC Panasonic ScanVision"
is a 360-degree multi-angle slow motion replay system that provides a
"Matrix" style rotating effect that was done in 270 degree format
for this show. The game featured the Colorado Avalanche and the New Jersey
Devils.
Thirty two V1d video disk recorders were used for ScanVision. During
the game each V1d recorded the video feed from one of 32 video cameras
mounted on robotic arms installed around the arena. A sophisticated software
interface managed the master camera used to follow the action on the field
and the remaining 31 cameras used to create the multi-angle recording.
During the slow motion replay the operator has complete control of the
angle of view achieved by accessing each V1d's recording. The V1d's slow
motion, instant locate and play capability are a vital piece of the ScanVision
technology. The 32 V1d machines and the Scan Vision system are located
in a high-tech mobile truck operated by Core Digital Technologies based
in Phoenix, Arizona.
The V1d is Doremi Labs' affordable disk recorder with analog and digital
video inputs and outputs. The V1d can be used as a drop-in replacement
for any video tape recorder. With its VTR-like front panel controls and
matching video and audio connectors the V1d makes it easy to upgrade to
the speed and quality of disk recorders. Doremi Labs' V1 video disk recorders
are available in JPEG or MPEG2 compression standards or uncompressed.
