Doremi
Introduces the ORCA
MPEG2 HD Encoder
Doremi Labs introduces the ORCA real-time MPEG2 encoder for High Definition
and Standard Definition video. ORCA provides a winning combination of
high bit rate video compression, HD video support and extensive encoding
controls.
ORCA is designed to meet the most demanding video encoding needs with
its real-time MPEG2 encoding of HD video up to 160 Mbits/sec. ORCA provides
users with a wide choice of encoding parameters such as GOP structure,
4:2:0 and 4:2:2 encoding profiles and compression bit rate. These parameters
provide the user with precise control of the encoding process and as a
result the flexibility to encode content for a variety of applications.
MPEG2 video generated by the ORCA encoder can be used for network transmission,
digital cinema and playback from low cost MPEG2 players. ORCA is particularly
useful for High Definition encoding of concerts, sports and other live
events. ORCA can also be used as a video capture device for HD and SD
post production for editing or DVD mastering thanks to its multiple GOP
structure support.
The ORCA encoder is housed in a 1RU chassis and accepts HD-SDI and SDI
video from which it extracts video, audio and other ancillary data. MPEG2
video can be streamed via Ethernet or DVB/ASI. The ORCA is provided with
an easy to use Windows software utility. In addition, a lower cost ORCA
is available with 4:2:0 MPEG2 encoding only.
