Doremi Introduces the MCS
Multi-Channel Broadcast Video Servers

Las Vegas, NV -NAB 2003 April 7, 2003 - Doremi Labs is pleased to introduce the new MCS Multi-Channel Broadcast Video Servers. The MCS Servers set a new standard in video server value and performance. The servers are designed for small to medium market TV stations and cable facilities looking for an affordable and easy to use server system.

Each MCS Server is housed in a compact 3 rack unit chassis and is available with different record and playback combinations such as 1 record and 3 play channels called the MCS-1r3p. (Other versions include MCS-1r2p & MCS-2r2p). If additional channels are needed MCS Servers can be networked together. This modular design allows for an easy upgrade path when video channel and storage requirements increase.

MCS Servers are designed to effortlessly blend into the existing facility's operations. They feature a front panel that mimics familiar VTR controls and compatibility with Odetics and VDCP automation and Sony 9pin machine control. MCS Servers operate on a dedicated video hardware platform and are available with dual redundant power supplies and external RAID-5 storage for rock-solid reliability.

MCS Servers feature MPEG2 compression with user selectable bit rates from 5 to 50Mb/s. Video inputs and outputs include composite, s-video, YUV and optional SDI. Up to 294 gigabyte of internal storage is available. Additional storage is possible via Doremi's external RAID drive chassis. A typical system setup at 15Mb/s compression will provide up to 17 hours internal or 150 hours of external storage. Besides MPEG2 a lower cost DCT compression server is also available.

Upgrading to a digital video server from a tape-based operation offers many advantages. Video servers provide instant access to thousands of hours of video programming. The servers can also be configured with multiple simultaneous record and play video channels. Unfortunately, video servers have been prohibitively expensive for many TV and cable facilities and complicated to setup and operate. Doremi's MCS Servers are designed for these smaller market facilities that previously where unable to take advantage of video server technology.
