Celine Dion's "A New Day.." show relies
on Doremi Labs' V1-UHD high definition disk recorder

March 24, 2003 - Burbank, CA -Doremi Labs' V1-UHD uncompressed High Def. disk recorder (ddr) is part of the breakthrough Celine Dion "A New Day.." production at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas. The show combines live performances and unprecedented state-of the-art visuals. The show will feature the largest indoor LED screen in North America and a cast of sixty dancers, musicians and artists.

CDA Productions Las Vegas chose three V1-UHDs as the playback devices to drive the vast majority of the show's visuals, while Sony Systems Solutions Division purchased and installed the system. The video used for the show is recorded in 1080i format via the V1-UHD's HD-SDI inputs. The HD video is displayed on the huge LED screen and several Digital Projection Lightning 28SX projectors.

Video playback is determined by Celine Dion's band. This is achieved by converting the MIDI time code generated by the band to an LTC signal fed to the V1-UHD. The V1-UHD provides for a smooth and timely presentation thanks to its instant video playback capability.

As with any live event the reliability of the video equipment is of paramount concern. CDA Productions has been very pleased with the V1-UHD's performance. Its disk based video recording technology minimizes the use of mechanical parts thus significantly reducing the risk of failure.

The V1-UHD disk recorder records and plays uncompressed digital (HD-SDI) or analog video and up to 8 channels of AES/EBU or analog audio. It features easy to use VTR-like front panel controls and frame accurate playback. Doremi Labs' popular V1 family of disk recorders are also available for standard definition video featuring MPEG2 or DCT video compression or uncompressed.
