Doremi Labs & Driveline Networks Announce
Joint
Development of Shared Virtual Storage Solution
Doremi Labs and Driveline Networks announce their joint
development of a shared virtual storage solution for multiple Doremi V1
video disk recorders, Pro Tools and TASCAM film dubbers to be networked
into a single workflow for audio post production of Film and Video.
Post production facilities have been searching for a system
that would allow multiple audio post workstations and film dubbers to
access numerous video playback units simultaneously. The previous solution
was for audio post workstations to be fed their video from either expensive
video tape decks or locally accessed video disk recorders such as the
popular Doremi V1s. This solution was acceptable for single workstation
post houses, however, larger facilities change their video program material
regularly and operate multiple workstations. Doremi Labs and Driveline
Networks technology offers a virtual storage solution that integrates
a post facilitys wide variety of hardware and software applications
into the production environment.
Regarding this new jointly developed solution, Driveline
president Jack Weaver stated, Now facilities will be able to have
multiple Pro Tools and multiple Doremis sharing the same piece of
video from a network. This frees them from making numerous copies and
updated versions and distributing them via sneaker net to individual workstations.
Not only is the industry freed from tiresome and slow tape decks by using
the Doremi V1, but the congestion and drudgery of individual audio workstations
working in isolation has been eliminated by this joint development of
Driveline and Doremi Labs. Once again our motto, Connect Everything
in the Production Environment is being realized.
Drivelines Director of Technology, Tom Martin added,
Our new virtual storage software, DrivelineNetä allows us to
attach up to 20 Doremi V1s up to a single drive on our Driveline
SAN environment.
Doremi Labs marketing manager, Ramzi Shakra adds
V1 disk recorders operate flawlessly in the shared virtual storage
environment. Full compatibility with current and older V1 machines makes
the Driveline and Doremi combination an excellent choice for post houses
that already own V1 machines and those looking to add the reliability
and random access benefits of V1 disk recorders in a shared network storage
environment.
