Latest Movie Releases Benefit from Doremi's
JPEG2000 Constant Quality VBR Hardware Encoder

Burbank, CA - March 22, 2006 - Doremi Cinema's DMS-2000 encoder features constant quality variable bit rate encoding for a smaller digital movie file size. The DMS-2000 encoder is installed at leading post production facilities worldwide and has been available since 2005.

Constant quality variable bit rate (VBR) encoding produces the highest possible image quality at file sizes significantly smaller than those achieved with constant bit rate encoding (CBR). A smaller digital movie file size provides for reduced duplication time and distribution costs.

The DMS-2000's exclusive hardware accelerated encoding provides up to real-time encoding of digital movie files. It is currently the only hardware accelerated DCI/JPEG2000 encoder on the market. Competing software-only encoders are typically slower and require complex multi-processor workstations.

Doremi Cinema's VBR encoding technology is used to master the majority of new DCI/JPEG2000 digital movie releases. Movies mastered with the DMS-2000 encoder include Chicken Little, The Chronicles of Narnia, Glory Road, Eight Below, Aquamarine, Inside Man, Stay Alive, Ice Age 2 and The Wild.

The DMS-2000 is a complete DCI-JPEG2000 authoring system that supports bit rates up to 250 Mbits/sec. It provides extensive encoding parameter controls. The system features a hardware accelerated JPEG2000 compressor in a Linux package with internal storage. The DMS-2000 is the first product to combine all the tools for 2K image compression processing in one package and is competitively priced to encourage adoption. Doremi Cinema was first on the market with DCI-JPEG2000 mastering and continues to lead in market share and technical enhancements to the product line.

Doremi Cinema is also a leading cinema server manufacturer. Doremi's DCP-2000 cinema server is the first commercially available server capable of playing DCI-JPEG2000 digital movies. The DCP-2000 now has an installed base of over 300 servers throughout the country with another 500 scheduled to be installed by the end of June 2006.
